Welcome to the Ozarks

Springfield, Missouri is a great place to live. Situated somewhat equally from St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, and Little Rock, it thrives as a fast growing service-oriented city. The crime rate is low, water and air quality are excellent, and the cost-of-living (especially utilities!) are cheap. Mary can tell you all about the schools since she put lots of blood and sweat into PTA activities.

Since Springfield sits atop the Springfield Plateau (elevation approximately 1300 feet) it enjoys a bit more moderate temperatures than the surrounding area. However, Springfield is in the heartland - where weather can change rapidly. There's a very common saying, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a bit." It tends to be true here.

3.5 inch hailstoneHere's an example of one of Mother Nature's more violent creations. This hailstone ripped the greenhouse plastic during a tornado warning - Dave saw the stones from the safety of the basement. It probably melted some before he went out to inspect.
